BetOnline vs Bovada (2026): Which One Should You Use?

BetOnline wins on scout score, payout, kyc, support, kyc, coins accepted. Bovada answers back on games. If the rows BetOnline wins are the ones you care about, that is your site.

Bovada and BetOnline are the two offshore books most US bettors end up choosing between, and from a distance they look the same: crypto-first cashiers, a casino, poker room and racebook on one wallet, and a licence nobody can look up. The differences live in the help centres. Bovada has taken US bets since December 2011, blocks 19 states plus DC in its own terms and caps stablecoin cashouts at $2,500 a week. BetOnline prints its betting limits per league, pays out in 17 coins with no maximum on Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT or USDC, and publishes no restricted list at all, so availability is on you. I compared both on what they publish themselves and on what Casino Guru and Trustpilot record. Neither has been through my own timed payout test yet, so every speed below is the operator's word, not mine. Full reviews: Bovada and BetOnline.

Who wins for payouts

No own payout tests on either book yet, so this is published rules plus complaint records. Bovada says a withdrawal takes "about 24 hours for approval", then up to 24 hours for Bitcoin and up to an hour for LTC, ETH, USDT, BCH and BSV, with no fee. The weekly caps decide it: $2,500 on ETH, USDT and BCH, $90,000 on BTC, $180,000 on LTC. BetOnline says it strives to process within 24 hours, lists no maximum on BTC, ETH, USDT or USDC and charges nothing on Bitcoin; other coins cost $1.50 to $25. Its catches: winnings capped at $250,000 per 24 hours, a VIP page that contradicts the "unlimited" request count, and Casino Guru recording a $25,000 weekly limit and two delayed USDT payouts of about 2,500. Bovada's one-star half on Trustpilot is mostly held Bitcoin withdrawals. Winner: BetOnline, on limits and coins.

Who wins for KYC

Both are light KYC with no published threshold. Bovada wants full name, address, date of birth, email and phone at sign-up, asks for ID only if that data cannot be validated, and makes card users file a verification form for every card before any withdrawal, Bitcoin included. BetOnline asks for a name, an email and a phone number that receives a code; ID, card copies and proof of address are reserved for later, mainly for card depositors. Bovada treats a VPN as fraud and forfeits balances; BetOnline bans it in its welcome terms. Winner: BetOnline, for the shorter sign-up.

Who wins for bonuses

Bovada's crypto sports bonus (code BTCSWB750) is 75% up to $750 at 5x on deposit plus bonus, with casino play counting at 30x. On a $1,000 deposit at standard -110 pricing that costs about $400 in expected hold against $750 of bonus, so it stays positive for a flat bettor. BetOnline gives 50% of the first deposit up to $250 as a free bet with no rollover, plus 100 spins capped at $100: roughly $115 of expected value on a $500 deposit, and limited to North America. Both reserve bonuses for recreational players and can void the rest. Winner: Bovada, if you will actually play through 5x; BetOnline's offer is simpler, not bigger.

Who wins for the sportsbook

Bovada lists 28 sports and categories, a Prop Builder, live betting and cash out, a $0.50 minimum bet and a $1,000,000 maximum payout; maximum stakes change per event behind a Bet Max button. BetOnline lists 30-plus sports, a Prop Shop, same-game and mega parlays and three odds formats, and publishes its limits: $50,000 on an NFL spread, $30,000 on an NBA spread, with re-bets every 61 seconds. Its ceilings are lower, $150,000 per parlay and $250,000 per day. On two lines I read, BetOnline's margin was 4.5% on an NFL spread and about 2.4% on an MLB moneyline; I have no matching numbers for Bovada, so no juice verdict. Winner: BetOnline, unless a single million-dollar payout matters more to you than posted limits.

Who wins for reputation

Neither has a licence you can check. Bovada's footer names the Union of the Comoros and the Central Reserve Authority of Western Sahara with no number; third parties say its Curaçao licence lapsed in 2025, and its own terms now block 20 US jurisdictions after state cease-and-desist letters. BetOnline cites Panama's Junta de Control de Juegos, also unnumbered, which Casino Guru marks "Unverifiable". Casino Guru rates Bovada 4.8 "Low" with 138 complaints and BetOnline 4.3 "Low" with 24; neither cooperates with its mediators. Trustpilot: Bovada 3.8 from about 2,950 reviews, replying to every negative; BetOnline 4.1 from 12,251, replying to 47%. Winner: BetOnline, narrowly, on complaint volume and review score.

The verdict

Pick BetOnline if you bet size, cash out in stablecoins or altcoins, or want posted limits you can plan around. Pick Bovada if you live in a state it serves, bet props and parlays recreationally and want the bigger 5x crypto sports bonus. Either way keep balances small, because neither has a regulator you can complain to; sites like Bovada and sites like BetOnline list the alternatives.

Bovada in one line

The best US-facing sportsbook nobody regulates: fine for crypto bettors in a served state who keep balances small, wrong if you want a licence to complain to.
