Bovada Review

Tested 8 Oct 2026 · Licence Anjouan · Since 2011

The best US-facing sportsbook nobody regulates: fine for crypto bettors in a served state who keep balances small, wrong if you want a licence to complain to.

Min deposit 0.0001 BTC / 5 USDT (crypto); $20 by card
Welcome bonus 75% up to $750 on the first crypto deposit, 5x sports rollover (code BTCSWB750)
Sportsbook Yes

What I like

  • 28-entry sports menu with politics, esports, a props builder, live betting and cash out
  • $1,000,000 maximum sportsbook payout, published in the help centre
  • No withdrawal fees on crypto; limits per coin printed in public
  • Crypto sports welcome bonus at 5x (deposit plus bonus) is light by industry standards
  • Casino, live dealer, poker and racebook on the same balance since 2011

What sucks

  • Footer licence (Union of the Comoros and Central Reserve Authority of Western Sahara) has no number, licensee or validator
  • Crypto withdrawals take about 24 hours to approve, then up to 24 hours more for Bitcoin
  • Weekly cashout caps of $2,500 on ETH, USDT and BCH; only BTC and LTC scale
  • 19 US states plus DC are blocked and a VPN forfeits deposits and winnings
  • Casino bonuses roll 25x then 50x, live dealer excluded, and a recreational-only clause lets Bovada void wins

My take

This Bovada sportsbook review starts with the line every other one skips: the licence in the footer. Bovada has taken US bets since December 2011, runs the deepest props menu I have seen on an offshore book, pays crypto without fees and caps sports payouts at a million dollars. It also says it is “licensed and regulated by the Union of the Comoros and the Central Reserve Authority of Western Sahara”, with no number, no company name and nothing to click. If you bet crypto from a served state and keep the balance small, Bovada works. If you want a regulator behind your money, it does not.

First impressions

Sign-up asks for more than a crypto book usually does: name, address, birth date, email, phone number, a security question and an email confirmation. Inside, the layout is the classic US book: Football, Baseball, Soccer, Hockey and Basketball pinned at the top, a Sports A-Z drawer, a Live tab and a Prop Builder that stacks player props from one game into a single ticket.

What stands out is how much the help centre publishes: withdrawal limits per coin, approval times, bonus contribution tables and the sports maximum payout are all in public. So is the 15.9 percent card fee. Bovada wants you on crypto, and it says so.

Odds, markets & live betting

The A-Z lists 28 entries: the big US leagues, soccer, UFC, tennis, golf, cricket, boxing, motor sports, both rugby codes, darts, snooker, cycling and Aussie rules, plus politics, entertainment, virtual sports and a numbers game. Esports on the day covered Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Valorant, Rainbow Six and King of Glory. Odds display in American format by default.

I have not measured Bovada’s margins against a competitor on a named league yet, so there are no juice claims here. What the help centre does say: the minimum bet is $0.50, the maximum changes per event and is shown by the Bet Max button, and no single payout exceeds $1,000,000. Cash out works on singles and parlays, pre-game and live, but not on every market, and a cashed-out bet does not count toward any rollover.

One clause matters for sharper bettors. The terms call bonus programs “intended for recreational bettors only” and list “using parlay limits to circumvent singles limits” as abuse, with voided wagers as the sanction. Win consistently and expect limits; the crypto sportsbooks category covers books built for that crowd.

Deposits, withdrawals & KYC

Crypto deposits credit after one confirmation and are converted to USD on arrival. Minimums are tiny, the per-transaction maximum is $5,000 and Bovada charges nothing. Every deposit must be wagered once before any winnings can leave.

Withdrawals are where the marketing and the help centre part ways. The payout page says “about 24 hours for approval”, then up to one hour for LTC, ETH, USDT, BCH and BSV and up to 24 hours for BTC, with no fee. Per request you can take $9,500 in BTC or $2,500 in ETH, USDT and BCH, once every 15 minutes. The weekly caps are the real constraint: $2,500 on ETH, USDT and BCH, $90,000 on BTC, $180,000 on LTC. Cash out in stablecoins and you are stuck at $2,500 a week. I haven’t run my own timed payout test here yet. It’s coming, and the tx hash will be on this page.

Not documents, by default. The KYC policy says you provide name, address, date of birth, email and phone, and that documents are requested “if your identity cannot be validated” or for anti-money-laundering reviews, through an in-account flow for passport, driver’s licence or ID card. Card depositors also file a Credit Card Verification Form for every card used before any withdrawal, Bitcoin included. No amount triggers a review on paper, but full identity data is taken at sign-up and checked against ID services, so I file Bovada as full KYC, not as a no-KYC book; the no-KYC list only ranks sites with a published threshold.

Two clauses to know before you deposit. Using a VPN or proxy is treated as fraud and all balances, deposits included, are forfeited. And an account with no deposit, withdrawal or bet for 18 months is set to zero after a warning at month 17.

Bonus: what it is really worth

The crypto sports welcome bonus is the one to consider: code BTCSWB750 gives 75% up to $750 on the first deposit in BTC, USDT, LTC, BCH or BSV, with a 5x rollover on deposit plus bonus for sports or horses. Deposit $1,000, take $750, and you need $8,750 of settled action; if I assume standard -110 pricing, that costs about $400 in expected hold, so the bonus keeps positive expected value for a flat bettor. Check your own numbers in the wagering calculator. Winning bets count the lesser of risk or win, casino play counts at 30x, live dealer is excluded, and withdrawing early forfeits the bonus and its winnings.

The casino version is a different animal: 125% up to $1,250 with code BTCCWB1250 at 25x deposit plus bonus, then two reloads at 50x. Slots count 100 percent, table games 20, blackjack and video poker 10, roulette and baccarat 5, live dealer and craps zero. Unless you only spin slots, decline it. Every bonus is labelled for recreational bettors, with voided wagers for anyone Bovada decides is a professional.

Trust & reputation

Legit as in real and paying, yes: fifteen years of US players and a 39 percent five-star share on Trustpilot are not a scam’s numbers. Regulated, no. The site has moved from a Kahnawake licence (surrendered in 2016) to a Curaçao licence under Harp Media B.V. (from 2017) to the current footer, which cites two authorities with no register I could open; the licensing history I rely on notes that the Curaçao licence lapsed in 2025. No operator name appears on the site. Regulators in Michigan, Louisiana, Tennessee, Massachusetts and other states have sent cease-and-desist letters since 2024, and the blocked list in §2.3 of the terms has grown to twenty jurisdictions.

Casino Guru gives a Safety Index of 4.8, “Low”, calls the terms somewhat unfair, counts 138 complaints and says it is not aware of any official licence. Trustpilot sits at 3.8 from about 2,950 reviews: 51 percent one star, mostly held Bitcoin withdrawals and locked accounts, 39 percent five stars for fast cash-outs and human support, and a reply to every negative review. ComplaintsBoard adds 139 complaints and two resolutions. The pattern is the same everywhere: most people get paid, and the ones who do not have nobody to appeal to.

Who should play at Bovada

The props bettor in a served state. Same-game parlays, player props and politics on one ticket, paid in Bitcoin or Litecoin, where the weekly caps are high.

The casual NFL and NBA bettor who deposits a few hundred in crypto, takes the 5x sports bonus and cashes out weekly.

Not for you if you live in one of the twenty blocked jurisdictions, cash out in USDT above $2,500 a week, bet sharp enough to get limited, or want a licence you can read.

Bovada FAQ

Is Bovada legit?

It is a real operator that has been paying US players since December 2011 and answers every negative Trustpilot review. It is not regulated by anyone you can appeal to: the footer names the Union of the Comoros and the Central Reserve Authority of Western Sahara without a licence number, casino.guru lists no official licence, and its own terms now block twenty US jurisdictions. Legit in practice, unprotected on paper.

Does Bovada require KYC?

Registration asks for your full name, address, date of birth, email and phone number. Documents are requested only if that data cannot be validated or for anti-money-laundering reviews; there is no published threshold. Card depositors must file a Credit Card Verification Form before any withdrawal, Bitcoin included.

How long do Bovada payouts take?

Bovada says about 24 hours for approval, then up to 1 hour for Litecoin, Ethereum, Tether, Bitcoin Cash or Bitcoin SV and up to 24 hours for Bitcoin. Third-party timed tests landed Bitcoin in about 1 hour 20 minutes. I have not timed it myself yet.

What is the minimum Bovada withdrawal?

$10 in Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV or Lightning, $50 in Ethereum or Tether, $75 in Bitcoin. Maximums are $9,500 per request for Bitcoin and $2,500 for Ethereum, Tether and Bitcoin Cash, one request every 15 minutes, with weekly caps per coin.

Which US states can't use Bovada?

The terms list Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Michigan, Colorado, DC, Connecticut, West Virginia, Ohio, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Arizona, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island. Accounts accessed from those lose access and the balance may be voided. No country list is published; you are responsible for your own country's law.

Is the Bovada crypto bonus worth it?

The sports one, mostly: 75% up to $750 with a 5x rollover on deposit plus bonus, usable on any sport and odds. Skip the casino version unless you play slots only: 25x on the first deposit, 50x on the next two, live dealer excluded.

What are the best Bovada alternatives?

Sportsbooks that take US crypto players with a verifiable licence, higher stablecoin limits or a published KYC threshold. My ranked list is at /sites-like/bovada/.

What Bovada bonus codes work in 2026, including for existing players?

The codes on Bovada's own pages are for new crypto deposits: BTCSWB750 (75% up to $750, 5x on sports), BTCCWB1250 (125% up to $1,250, 25x in the casino) and BTC2NDCWB for the next two casino deposits at 50x. For existing players, the promotions table lists a refer-a-friend reward of up to $475; I found no reload code there.

Can I withdraw from Bovada to a bank account?

Only by bank wire, and only for eligible accounts: $1,500 to $9,500, one every 30 days, arriving in 10 to 15 business days. Checks by courier run from $250 to $3,000, one every 7 days. Your withdrawal method can depend on how you deposited, and crypto stays faster, at about 24 hours for approval.

Which sportsbooks are like Bovada for US bettors?

Among the books I reviewed that say they serve US customers: BetOnline, SportsBetting.ag, BetUS and MyBookie. None is licensed by a US state. BetOnline publishes limits up to $50,000 on NFL spreads and has no maximum on Bitcoin withdrawals; MyBookie covers 25 sports but pays only by Bitcoin or wire, $5,000 per payout and one per method each week.

Is Bovada legit for sports betting?

As a sportsbook, mostly yes: 28 sports in the A-Z, live betting, cash out on singles and parlays, a $0.50 minimum bet and a stated $1,000,000 maximum payout. The catch sits in the terms. Bonuses are for recreational bettors only, players Bovada decides are abusing its limits can have wagers voided, and maximums vary by event. If you disagree with a ruling, there is no regulator to appeal to.

Can I use Bovada in California?

California is not on Bovada's restricted list, which names 19 states plus DC, so Bovada does not block it. That is the operator's position, not a legal opinion: the only authorities Bovada names are the Union of the Comoros and the Central Reserve Authority of Western Sahara, with no licence number. If you move to or visit a restricted state, the terms say to tell Bovada first, because a balance accessed from there may be voided.

What sites are like Bovada and Ignition?

Ignition is the casino and poker half of the picture: no sportsbook, but KYC wording, an 18-month dormancy rule and crypto withdrawal limits that read almost like Bovada's, with only five states restricted. For sports, casino and poker on one account, BetOnline is the closest book I reviewed, with uncapped Bitcoin withdrawals and a Panama licence claim without a number. For casino only, Cafe Casino and Slots.lv hold a Curaçao licence I verified.

Can I use Bovada in Texas or Florida?

Neither state is on Bovada's restricted list, which names 19 states plus DC in section 2.3 of its terms, so Bovada does not block them. That is the operator's rule, not a legal opinion: the terms make you responsible for the law where you live, and the licence Bovada cites, from the Union of the Comoros and Western Sahara, carries no number I could verify. If you travel to a restricted state, tell Bovada first, or the balance may be voided.

Does Bovada have a phone number?

Not one I could find. Bovada's contact page offers an email form split by department (general, casino, sportsbook, poker, horses), the terms give service@bovada.lv, and the site runs live chat, which casino.guru lists in English and Spanish. The home page promises 24/7 support. None of the Bovada pages I read lists a 1-800 number, so treat numbers posted on third-party sites with suspicion.

How do I withdraw from Bovada?

From the cashier, once your deposits have been wagered once: Bovada pays nothing out before that. Crypto is the quick route. Give a fresh wallet address for every request, wait about 24 hours for approval, then up to an hour for most coins and up to 24 hours for Bitcoin, with no Bovada fee. Card depositors must file a Credit Card Verification Form first. Vouchers go up to $3,000 and arrive as a code by email in about 24 hours; MatchPay pays up to $2,000, twice a day.

Which deposit methods does Bovada accept?

Crypto, vouchers, major credit cards and some Visa or Mastercard gift cards, plus Player Transfer and MatchPay. Cards take $20 to $1,500 per deposit: the first card deposit is free, later ones cost 15.9% or more. Crypto starts at 5 USDT, 0.002 ETH, 0.01 LTC or 0.0001 BTC, tops out at $5,000 per transaction ($10,000 on Lightning) and is credited after one confirmation. Ethereum and Tether go on the ERC-20 network only.

Does Bovada accept players from Canada, including Ontario and Quebec?

Bovada doesn't say. Its terms list 19 US states plus DC and no countries or provinces, and none of the help articles I read on 12 October 2026 mentions Canada; registration only asks you to enter your correct country of residence. Bovada is not in iGaming Ontario's directory, and the AGCO calls sites outside that market unregulated. The US-facing site that does name Canada is Slots.lv, which accepts it except Quebec and Nova Scotia.
