What provably fair means, and what it does not
A provably fair casino lets you check, after a bet, that the result was fixed before you played and was not changed afterwards. It works as a commitment. Before your bet the casino shows you a hash of a secret server seed. You supply or accept a client seed. Each bet uses those two seeds plus a counter called the nonce. When you rotate the seed, the casino reveals the old server seed, and you can hash it yourself to confirm it matches the commitment, then recompute every result from the three inputs.
The catch is scope. Provably fair covers the casino's own games, usually called originals: dice, limbo, crash, plinko, mines and similar. It does not cover the thousands of third-party slots and live tables in the same lobby, which run on the providers' own systems. A site with 16 provably fair originals and 8,000 other games is mostly not provably fair. That is the single most useful thing to know before trusting the badge.
How to verify a bet yourself
- Before playing, note the hashed server seed and set your own client seed. A random string you type is fine.
- Play. Each bet increments the nonce: 0, 1, 2 and so on.
- Rotate the seed pair. The casino reveals the unhashed server seed it used.
- Hash the revealed seed with SHA-256 and compare it to the hash you noted. If it differs, stop playing there.
- Recompute a result from server seed, client seed and nonce, using the algorithm the casino publishes for that game.
Step 5 is where most people give up, so I built the provably fair calculator. It runs HMAC-SHA256 entirely in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere, and supports dice, limbo, roulette and plinko with the two common formulas. If your number matches the casino's, that round was not changed after the fact.
How I picked these sites
The general method is on how I rate. For this list a site needs a public provably fair page that explains how each covered game's result is generated from seeds you can check; a licence I can find; published restricted countries; and no entry on the Shit List. A generic "our games use a certified RNG" paragraph does not qualify. That is why Bovada, which has an RNG page that names no testing lab and no provably fair page at all, is not here.

Two published sites qualify today, so there is no third row. Rainbet is the more transparent of the two on method: it publishes per-game algorithms, lets you rotate seeds, and has a verifier tab. Its multiplayer games, Case Battles and EOS Roulette, take their outcome from EOS blockchain blocks rather than your seeds. Roobet's fairness page covers 14 games with a tab per game; the overview itself prints no seed scheme, so open the tab for the game you play before you rely on it.
What to watch out for
- Slots are not covered. Rainbet claims more than 8,000 games and Roobet more than 7,000. The provably fair part is 16 and 14 of them.
- Never-rotated seeds. If you never rotate, the server seed is never revealed, and nothing has been proven. Rotate after a session you care about.
- Default client seeds. A seed the casino picks for you is still verifiable, but setting your own removes any doubt that the pair was prepared.
- Fair is not generous. A provably fair game still has a house edge. The proof shows the result was not changed, not that the odds are good.
- Fairness does not pay you. A verified game says nothing about withdrawals, KYC or bonus caps. Read the review for those.
Common mistakes
Treating a provably fair badge as a seal on the whole casino. Checking one round and assuming every game uses the same algorithm; each game maps the hash differently. Forgetting to write down the hashed seed before playing. And skipping the payout side: the payout tests page is where I check the part that fairness proofs do not cover.
How to use this list
Open a review for the full picture: licence, KYC clause, restricted countries and the exact list of provably fair games. Keep the calculator open in a second tab while you play originals. If you also care about documents, the no-KYC casinos list tracks verification rules, and the full crypto casinos list includes sites without provably fair games, scored on everything else. If you want to practise verification with small bets, a low-fee coin keeps the deposit cost down; the Solana casinos list shows both sites here accept SOL.
