What a crypto casino no deposit bonus really is

A no deposit bonus is credit or free spins you get without paying in: a few dollars of balance, a batch of spins on one slot, sometimes a small amount of BTC. It looks like free money. It is a trial with three locks on it: a wagering requirement, a maximum cashout, and a list of games and bet sizes that count. The bonus is real, but the amount you can ever withdraw from it is decided by those locks, not by how lucky you get.

Wagering and max cashout, with numbers

Wagering

Wagering means you must bet the bonus a set number of times before it turns into withdrawable money. Take a hypothetical $10 no-deposit bonus with 40x wagering. You must place $400 in bets. On a slot that returns 96% on average, the expected loss over $400 of bets is 4%, or $16. That is more than the $10 you started with, so on average the balance is gone before the wagering is done. Some players finish anyway, because variance is real. That is the whole game.

Max cashout

The cap limits what you can take out even if you hit big. Bovada's terms are explicit: no-deposit bonuses under $100 have a maximum cashout of $125, and bonuses over $100 cap the cashout at 1x the bonus. Rainbet caps what you can withdraw from welcome promo codes at $50. With a cap, the rare big win that would justify the negative expected value is cut off, which makes most no-deposit offers worse than they look.

Game weighting

Not every bet counts in full. Bovada's bonus terms count slots at 100%, table games at 20%, video poker and blackjack at 10%, roulette and baccarat at 5%, and live casino and craps at 0%. Playing blackjack on a bonus at Bovada means each $10 bet clears $1 of wagering.

What the sites I review actually offer

Here is what their own pages say. Roobet hands out promo codes that it describes as instant rewards, typically free spins or a balance of $0.15 to $0.50; depositor codes need a deposit or wager in the past 7 days, and free spins expire after 7 days. Rainbet caps welcome promo codes at $50 withdrawable and doubles the wager lock on your deposit while a promotion is active. Bovada lists welcome and refer-a-friend offers but no no-deposit bonus, though its terms cap any no-deposit bonus as described above. None of these is a standing no-deposit bonus, so none of the three is tagged here.

How I would list a no deposit bonus

A site lands here only if the offer is on the operator's own promotions page, not just on an affiliate site; the wagering, max cashout, eligible games and expiry are published; the licence and restricted countries are public; and the site is not on the Shit List. What to watch out for

• One per household. Bovada allows one bonus per person, household, IP address and device. Rainbet can treat same-IP accounts as abusive and confiscate funds.
• KYC before payout. A no-deposit win is exactly the kind of withdrawal that triggers verification. All three sites keep the right to ask for documents.
• Expiry. Roobet's free spins expire after 7 days and bonuses must be claimed within 30 days. Unused value disappears quietly.
• Max bet rules. Check whether the bonus terms cap your bet size while wagering. Where they do, one oversized bet can void the bonus and its winnings.
• Lost rakeback. Roobet pays no rakeback while a deposit-bonus wagering requirement is active. A bonus can cost you a reward you already had.

Common mistakes
